Boston was formed in 1969 by Tom Scholz while he was attending MIT. The band's been through various line up changes since then and is currently composed of Tom (lead and rhythm guitar, bass, keyboards, percussion, backing vocals), Gary Pihl (rhythm and lead guitar, keyboards, backing vocals), Curly Smith (drums, percussion, harmonica, backing vocals), Jeff Neal (drums, percussion, backing vocals), Tommy DeCarlo (lead vocals, keyboards, percussion), Tracy Ferrie (bass guitar, backing vocals), and Beth Cohen (keyboards, vocals, rhythm guitar). Their eponymous debut album came out in 1976, was an enormous success and now ranks as one of the best selling debut albums in American history. The band's become a staple of classic rock radio playlists with smash hits like ‘More Than a Feeling’, ‘Peace of Mind’, ‘Foreplay/Long Time’, ‘Rock and Roll Band’, ‘Smokin’, ‘Don't Look Back’, and ‘Amanda’. They went on to release 5 more studio albums and have sold more than 74 million records worldwide. Joan Jett (birth name Joan Marie Larkin) was born in Wynnewood (Pennsylvania) and is a rock singer, songwriter, composer, musician, record producer, and occasional actress. She formed the band The Blackhearts in 1979 and they made a name for themselves with their 1981 debut album, I Love Rock 'n Roll. The album hit #2 on the US Billboard 200 chart and its eponymous lead single topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The album achieved Platinum status in the US, double Platinum in Canada, and is the band’s most successful album to date.
